The Eastside Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 66-59 to Paul VI. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (56), Eastside still had to take the loss.
Loss or not, Eastside got some senior leadership from Will Love and Jalen Long. Love scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Long. scored 21 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Long has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahaan Green, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Eastside has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Paul VI, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Eastside will head out on the road to square off against Camden Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Camden Catholic is ranked 72nd, while Eastside is ranked 55th). As for Paul VI, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Don Bosco Prep on Saturday. Don Bosco Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Paul VI likes a good challenge.
