Burrillville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Middletown Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Burrillville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
Last Thursday, Burrillville faced Cranston West in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Burrillville skirted past Cranston West 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Burrillville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nolan Serafin out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Serafin is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack DiChiaro, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Middletown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. The game between Middletown and Rogers wasn't particularly close, with Middletown falling 70-51.
Burrillville pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Middletown, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Burrillville took their win against Middletown in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 56-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burrillville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
