The Franklin Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Clinton-Massie Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Franklin's game was all tied up 25-25 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 48-40 win over Ross.
Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Black led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Tito Harrison, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clinton-Massie's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-35 bruising from Clermont Northeastern. While losing is never fun, Clinton-Massie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 514th, while Clermont Northeastern is ranked 245th).
The victory got Franklin back to even at 4-4. As for Clinton-Massie, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Franklin was able to grind out a solid victory over Clinton-Massie when the teams last played back in December of 2019, winning 85-73. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
