Owen hasn't had much luck against Mountain Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Owen Warhorses will challenge the Mountain Heritage Cougars at 6:00 p.m.
Owen is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 65-27 loss at the hands of Mitchell. While losing is never fun, the Warhorses can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 561st, while the Mountaineers are ranked 255th).

Despite their defeat, Owen saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Savannah Hollingsworth, who posted 13 points and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those 13 points gave Hollingsworth a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Roland, who had two points in addition to 12 boards and four steals.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mountain Heritage duked it out withRosman on Friday. Mountain Heritage blew past Rosman 64-21. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.
Mountain Heritage's win came from a few key players Owen will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lilly Neill, who put up eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Mallie Mae Buchanan was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.
Mountain Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.
Owen's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Mountain Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Owen has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mountain Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Owen took a serious blow against Mountain Heritage in their previous meeting on January 4th, falling 76-28. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Owen was down 49-12.
