The Saint John Paul the Great Catholic Wolves will take on the Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Saint John Paul the Great Catholic and Gar-Field meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Saint John Paul the Great Catholic put the hurt on Gar-Field with a sharp 21-1 win. The Wolves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jack Kennedy looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Liam Kennedy, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Charlie Skala was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Fairfax HomeSchool waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Black Knights 11-1. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.
Cenzo Gonder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Gonder was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Silas Yoho was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Will McPherson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Fairfax HomeSchool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Fairfax HomeSchool's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saint John Paul the Great Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Fairfax HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Saint John Paul the Great Catholic's way against Fairfax HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Saint John Paul the Great Catholic made off with a 10-4 victory.
