Highland moved up to 315 from 374 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Golden. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of beating Eastside 60-14.
Palmdale added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Antelope Valley, 35-21. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Treshawn Garrett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Highland topped the Lions. Garrett's favorite target this week was Jamire Jordan, who caught 5 passes for 100 yards.
Garrett was a beast in the backfield as Troy Jackson's team beat Eastside.
Donte Ross and Garrett gave the Bulldogs a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Ross threw for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Garrett ran for 251 yards. Teammate Devon Zink added to the ground attack by rushing for 43 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Jalen Singleton of Richard Lear's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,328. He has also thrown 21 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jordan. The Highland star has 30 catches for 596 yards.
Garrett of the Highland is just 2 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 90 carries Garrett has put up 998 yards this year.
The Lions are currently in third, while Quartz Hill is in second.
The Bulldogs took down Eastside 60-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Garrett ran for 251 yards during the win.
