Basketball Game Preview: Humboldt Cubs vs. Neodesha Blue Streaks

Humboldt has gone 10-0 against Neodesha recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Humboldt Cubs will take on the Neodesha Blue Streaks in a holiday battle at. Humboldt knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Neodesha likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, Humboldt took their game with ease, bagging a 61-16 win over Eureka. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-9.

Colden Cook was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 14 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Hart, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Neodesha hadn't done well against West Elk recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Neodesha managed a 66-61 victory over West Elk. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Streaks.

Humboldt's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.8 points. As for Neodesha, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Humboldt was able to grind out a solid win over Neodesha when the teams last played back in February, winning 50-40. Does Humboldt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Neodesha turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
