Natalia is 1-7 against Poth since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Natalia Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Poth Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Natalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Natalia ended up a good deal behind Hondo and lost 49-33. Natalia has not had much luck with Hondo recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Natalia saw an underclassman step up: Leyla Saenz scored 18 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Poth had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They snuck past Jourdanton with a 47-43 win.
Natalia's loss dropped their record down to 12-21. As for Poth, they pushed their record up to 25-9 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Natalia came up short against Poth when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 46-40. Can Natalia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
