On Saturday, Northland opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-42 defeat to Dublin Scioto. Northland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Niah Smedley was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks for Dublin Scioto. The match was Smedley's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Magnussen, who scored six points.
Northland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Dublin Scioto, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northland will take on Linden-McKinley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dublin Scioto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Walnut at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Walnut is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
