After flying high against the Northpoint Christian Trojans last Saturday, the Ridgeway Roadrunners came back down to earth. Ridgeway fell 81-69 to Varsity Opponent on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Roadrunners players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marlon McShane, who scored 23 points. McShane is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brian Carter, Jr., who scored 23 points along with five rebounds.
Ridgeway has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Varsity Opponent, their win bumped their record up to 161-574-5.
Ridgeway's road trip will continue as they head out to face Brentwood Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Brentwood Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ridgeway in Tennessee (Brentwood Academy is ranked fifth, while Ridgeway is ranked 44th). Varsity Opponent will take on Brewster Academy National in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at. Brewster Academy National has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 970 points over their last 12 matchups.
