In what's become a running theme this season, the Westminster Lions gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Garden Grove as Westminster made off with a 68-47 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Westminster has posted since December 15, 2023.
Westminster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Nguyen led the charge by scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nguyen has scored all season. Eric Hoang was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Garden Grove had strong showings from Drue Anzai, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, and Evan Juarez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Anzai pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Juarez, who scored four points along with two steals.
Westminster is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Garden Grove, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.
Westminster will be playing in front of their home fans against Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garden Grove, they will head out on the road to take on Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
