The Rancho Verde Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakeside Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho Verde is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
On Tuesday, Rancho Verde got the win against Perris by a conclusive 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Isabelle Sena was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Liah Navarro was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lupita Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Rancho Verde hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lakeside came up short against Moreno Valley on Tuesday and fell 11-8.
Adryanna Alvarez and Savana Swick did some serious damage despite the final result: Alvarez went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Swick went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Franco, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Rancho Verde's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Rancho Verde's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lakeside, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rancho Verde continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Rancho Verde's way against Lakeside in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Rancho Verde made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
