Fall River is a perfect 9-0 against Burney since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Raiders at 2:00 p.m. Burney took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fall River, who comes in off a win.
Fall River lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Trinity, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Wolves on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Kayla Oilar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Fall River let Darcie Range and Audrey Zimmerman run wild. Range went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Zimmerman got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Pressley Estes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Burney's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 6-3 to Chester.
Mia Perez put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aaliyah Perez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabella Prindiville, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Fall River's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-11. As for Burney, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.
Everything went Fall River's way against Burney when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Fall River made off with a 13-3 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
