The Beech Grove Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 60-46 bruising from Pike Central.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Simeon Mcintosh, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarron Murry jr., who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Quade Morton was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and four steals for Pike Central. The contest was Morton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Julian Gish was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Beech Grove has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 1-7. As for Pike Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian the next time they take the court. Beech Grove will head out to face Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, while Pike Central will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
