When it comes to explaining why ASPIRA Charter lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Zy'aire Gibson. Despite the final result, he scored 36 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 52.2% of ASPIRA Charter's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Joel Pinder, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
ASPIRA Charter dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Freire Charter School Wilmington, their win bumped their record up to 1-9.
