Wayne Memorial is 0-5 against Edison Academy since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Wayne Memorial Zebras will be playing at home against the Edison Academy Pioneers at 8:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Wayne Memorial on the road against Franklin as the squad secured a 66-26 victory. Given Wayne Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Franklin is ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Edison Academy put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Marian, posting a 63-15 win at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Edison Academy has posted since December 13, 2023.
Wayne Memorial pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Edison Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
Wayne Memorial came up short against Edison Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2021, falling 91-85. Can Wayne Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
