Softball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Sunrise Mountain got themselves on the board against Kellis on Thursday, but Kellis never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Mustangs have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mackenzie Catalanotte made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaelani Paulino, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Baylee Wallace, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Sunrise Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Sunrise Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Kellis, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Coming up, Sunrise Mountain will square off against Horizon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kellis, they will face off against Westview at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
