Oxford is 7-2 against Hernando since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Oxford Chargers will be playing at home against the Hernando Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Oxford walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jaguars on Saturday and snuck past 2-1. The win was familiar territory for Oxford who now have five in a row.
Meanwhile, Hernando faced Clinton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hernando narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Clinton 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for Hernando as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Parks Raffety and
Arturo Tapia, who scored both of Hernando's goals. The pair have combined for a total of eight so far this season.
Oxford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Hernando, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-3-1.
Oxford skirted past Hernando 1-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will Oxford repeat their success, or does Hernando have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
