The Oakwood Academy Mustangs on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Westminster Christian Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Oakwood Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 275 points over their last four matchups.
Oakwood Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Valley Head 91-55 on the road. With Oakwood Academy ahead 51-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Oakwood Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Callender, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Callender scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Nesbitt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Westminster Christian Academy suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Fort Payne, falling 57-28. While losing is never fun, Westminster Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Fort Payne is ranked 11th).
Oakwood Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Westminster Christian Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-12.
Oakwood Academy suffered a grim 73-49 defeat to Westminster Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2017. Can Oakwood Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
