The Starkville Yellowjackets are on the road again on Friday and play against the Oak Grove Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
With a playoff game on the line, Starkville rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 35-15 margin over the Jaguars. Starkville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove faced Brandon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Oak Grove secured a 49-45 W over Brandon on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Oak Grove sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Aj Maddox had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns. Maddox has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylin Champagne, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
Starkville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Oak Grove, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
