Basketball Recap: Western Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Western hadn't done well against Hamilton Heights recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Western Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hamilton Heights Huskies 47-45. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 57-52 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Western pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Hamilton Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Western is facing Perry Meridian at the right time seeing as Perry Meridian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hamilton Heights, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Lafayette knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Hamilton Heights likes a good challenge.
