The Union Mine Diamondbacks will venture away from home to take on the Amador Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Union Mine came up short against Rosemont and fell 8-5. The loss continues a trend for the Diamondbacks in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.
Bella Sebastian made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mary Andrews, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Amador, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Galt with a sharp 15-2 win on Thursday. Considering the Buffaloes have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jessica Mittelstadt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Amador got a massive performance out of Faith DelReal, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Sydney Faria was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Amador always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Amador's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 5.2 in the others. As for Union Mine, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything went Union Mine's way against Amador in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Union Mine made off with a 27-7 win. Will Union Mine repeat their success, or does Amador has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
