After flying high against Russellville last Tuesday, South Warren came back down to earth. The South Warren Spartans fell to the Greenwood Gators 67-62. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gators earlier this season, when they won 78-67.
Greenwood can attribute much of their success to Garrett Hatcher, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Hatcher now owns an excellent 45.6% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Meador, who posted eight points and five rebounds.
South Warren's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Greenwood, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 15-10.
Coming up, South Warren will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully South Warren likes a good challenge. As for Greenwood, they will challenge Grayson County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
