This season hasn't been kind to the Esparto Spartans, who are still winless after their ninth game. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-35 walloping at the hands of Maxwell on Monday. Esparto has struggled against Maxwell recently, as their matchup on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Esparto lost, one person who can't be blamed is Antonio Seastrunk Jr.. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with three steals. Seastrunk Jr. scored a full 91.4% of Esparto's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cohen Sihapanya , who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Esparto bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Maxwell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Esparto won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Maxwell will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hamilton at 8:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
