Danielle Mitchell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Sudan got a big performance out of Kyndal Wilson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Piper Pool was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Sudan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
As for Ralls, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since February 16th.
On Ralls' side, Maria Zavala stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Zavala is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Garza, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sudan will challenge Hale Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Owls have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Ralls, they will square off against Olton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.36 runs per game on average), something the Jackrabbits will no doubt try to take advantage of.
