Last Tuesday, Colorado Academy faced Kent Denver in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Colorado Academy managed a 80-76 win over Kent Denver. Colorado Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Colorado Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Simeon Woldeyohannes, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Woldeyohannes scored 15 or more points. Jason Bratis was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, The Academy pushed their score all the way to 62 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peak to Peak. The Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, The Academy got a solid performance out of Trey Boychuk, who scored 31 points along with five steals. Boychuk is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Massler, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Colorado Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for The Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Colorado Academy strolled past The Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 53-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colorado Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
