Softball Recap: Central Academy Wins Going Away Against Monroe

Central Academy won the last time they faced Monroe and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Redhawks. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

Carys Thomas looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Kieryn Peters was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Easterly, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Central Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Central Academy now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Monroe, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Academy will face off against Parkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monroe, they will take on Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
