Cheylin has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Ingalls Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cheylin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Ingalls likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cheylin walked away with it. They didn't even let Greeley County onto the board and left with a 80-0 win on Friday. Fans of Cheylin have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Cheylin can attribute much of their success to Pablo Bermudez, who rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns, and Logan McCarty, who rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Bermudez's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Brady Ketzner also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ingalls can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 52-0 win over Golden Plains. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ingalls.
Cheylin pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Western Plains/Healy and 2-7 Golden Plains (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.4% over those games). As for Ingalls, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cheylin against Ingalls in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 51-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cheylin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
