I Northern - High Desert recap Oct. 9, 2012
Reno extended the longest winning streak in I Northern - High Desert this week by beating Spanish Springs, 34-20. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Huskies.
Reed took down Hug 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mark Nowaczewski threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 118 yards in the win.
The Cougars' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hunter Fralick threw for 243 and three touchdowns and Ryder Lowry had 160 yards receiving. On the ground Jeff Jurgensmeier chipped in 162 yards. Vance Lively helped Spanish Springs' passing attack out by catching four balls for 43 yards.
Reed's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nowaczewski has thrown for 1802 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Devin Gray has 56 catches for 848 yards. Ty Shepard leads the league in rushing with 849 yards.
Going into this week's game against North Valleys, the Raiders' Nowaczewski needs 198 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Spanish Springs takes on McQueen. At the moment, the Cougars are in first, while the Lancers are in fourth.
Reno made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,998 from 4,301. The improvement was the result of 34-20 victory over Spanish Springs last week.
