Softball Recap: Chapin's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Chapin dropped their record down to 12-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Knoll Timberwolves. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Timberwolves since on Friday.

As for White Knoll, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7-1. The game was the first time they have beaten Chapin on their field since March 29, 2021.

For White Knoll's part, Brianna Guerra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Jaden Ekovich was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lillian Priest, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chapin will venture away from home to take on Midland Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for White Knoll, they are taking a road trip to challenge Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Timberwolves are facing the Yellow Jackets at the right time seeing as the Yellow Jackets are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
