After flying high against the Sierra Linda Bulldogs last Saturday, the Copper Canyon Aztecs came back down to earth. Copper Canyon fell just short of Youngker by a score of 55-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Copper Canyon in their matchups with Youngker: they've now lost three in a row.
Xavier Hargrove was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Youngker. The contest was Hargrove's third in a row with at least ten points. Ares Chambers was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Copper Canyon's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-8. As for Youngker, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.
Copper Canyon will square off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Youngker, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Buckeye at 7:00 p.m.
