Anne Arundel County recap Oct. 30, 2012
Arundel extended the longest winning streak in Anne Arundel County this week by beating Chesapeake, 55-20. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Wildcats.
Broadneck and Southern played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Broadneck eventually emerging with a 31-28 victory.
The Bulldogs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Corey Contee threw for 22 yards and Dejuan Neal had 12 yards receiving. On the ground Neal chipped in 154 yards. Malique Pratt helped Southern's passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
Eric Lindsey made the biggest impact on defense this week as Southern lost to the Bruins. The 6-foot-0 defensive back recorded one fumble.
The Cougars' Brandon Blanchard and Aaron Terry have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Blanchard has thrown for 944 yards this season, while Terry, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 32 catches for 449 yards. Russell Meyers' team's Neal leads the league in rushing yards with 1089.
A big matchup in Anne Arundel County this week will be when South River takes on Old Mill. The Seahawks are in third place, while the Patriots are in second place.
