The Napoleon Imperials had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Oakes on the road and fell 57-26. Napoleon lost against Oakes in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-44 score last time.
Oakes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Molly Sitzler out in front who scored 11 points along with five steals. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Jackson, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Napoleon's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Oakes, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Napoleon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Medina at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Oakes, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Dakota (Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock is ranked 42nd, while Oakes is ranked 31st).
