The Poultney Blue Devils were the 40-21 winner over Rivendell Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Poultney fell 43-32 to Rivendell Academy on Thursday. Poultney has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Rivendell Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Payton Gray out in front who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Gray continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shaylee Carter, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Poultney now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Rivendell Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poultney will face off against Mt. St. Joseph Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. St. Joseph Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Rivendell Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Long Trail at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Long Trail's defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so Rivendell Academy's offense will have their work cut out for Rivendell Academy.
