Football Recap: Pana Piles Up the Points Against Litchfield/Mt. Olive

Pana had won four straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-1 to make it five. They really took it to Litchfield/Mt. Olive for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-21 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Cash Lynch had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 254 yards and four scores on only six carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Cayden Durbin also helped out as he racked up 160 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pana was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 532 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Pana didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lynch and Devin Hurlburt.

As for Litchfield/Mt. Olive, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 471st, while Pana is ranked 213th).

Despite the loss, Litchfield/Mt. Olive still got an impressive performance from Cal Frerichs, who rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Matthew Bywater got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Coming up, Pana will square off against Carlinville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Cavaliers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Litchfield/Mt. Olive, they will take on Vandalia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vandals' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so Litchfield/Mt. Olive's offense will have their work cut out for them.
