Nova Classical Academy extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Life Academy Eagles. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
James Williams put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kincaid Gerber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Quintus Graff was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for New Life Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
Like Nova Classical Academy, New Life Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Nolan Wold. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. Wold was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Lucas Larson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cole Poppinga, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Nova Classical Academy will face off against St. Agnes at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for New Life Academy, they will challenge Heritage Christian at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something New Life Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
