Joseph City is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and St. Johns a six-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Joseph City Wildcats will host the St. Johns Redskins at 2:00 p.m.
Joseph City came up short against Holbrook on Thursday, falling 10-4.
Kyan Larsen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Johns). They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over Pinon on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.
McKray Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Johns is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, St. Johns let Dane Avila and T Platt run wild. Avila scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Platt scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Platt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Calderon, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
St. Johns kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
St. Johns' victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Joseph City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Joseph City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Johns struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Joseph City might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from St. Johns in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road?
