The Captain Shreve Gators had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against Red River by a score of 70-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Captain Shreve to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jyrin Sowell, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sowell has scored all season. Ejoshua Mcdonald was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Captain Shreve has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. As for Red River, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-14.
Captain Shreve will head out on the road to take on Southwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwood is coming into the match with five straight victories at home, so Captain Shreve is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Red River will take on Loyola College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Red River's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
