Basketball Recap: Peak to Peak Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Peak to Peak hadn't done well against Forge Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Peak to Peak Pumas came out on top against the Forge Christian Fury by a score of 65-55. This was payback for the Pumas, who suffered a 59-54 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Peak to Peak to victory were Elijah Eschmeyer and Tysen Burton. Eschmeyer went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points along with six boards and six blocks, while Burton went 9 for 15 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. Burton has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Cole Boonstra was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Forge Christian lost, don't look at Owen Hovis. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 16 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Still, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Peak to Peak pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Forge Christian, their loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3.

Peak to Peak will head out to challenge Eaton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eaton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. As for Forge Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Colorado Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. One thing working in Forge Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
