The Loyola Cubs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Cathedral 27-6. For Loyola, this counts as revenge for the 21-3 defeat Cathedral walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
The critical scores for Loyola came from Scott Taylor, Brandon Lockhart, and Carson Real.
One reason for the win was Loyola's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Cathedral's QB won't forget Isaiah Sanders anytime soon given Sanders sacked him four times.
Despite the defeat, Cathedral saw an underclassman step up: Jaden Jefferson threw for 148 yards on 20 of 33 attempts.
Loyola's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Cathedral, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6.
Loyola will take on Norte Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cathedral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
