The Riverdale Baptist Crusaders typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Evergreen Christian Eagles proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 86-74 win over the Crusaders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Evergreen Christian.
Leading Evergreen Christian to victory were Jackson Britt and Matthew Shelton. Britt scored 23 points, while Shelton scored 24 points along with three steals. Shelton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rodney Ekwoanya, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Evergreen Christian has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Riverdale Baptist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evergreen Christian will take on Virginia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Virginia Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Evergreen Christian is ranked 27th). As for Riverdale Baptist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Zion Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Zion Prep Academy is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
