The Alhambra Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Millennium Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alhambra's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Millennium's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Alhambra came out on top against North on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run fourth inning. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 17-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Nicolas Reyes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Omar Marrufo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Fonseca, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .133.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millennium, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Sunnyslope on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Millennium also got a great performance from Felix Santana as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Chase Fillman was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Brady Perrin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Alhambra is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Millennium, their record is now 17-8.
Alhambra's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Millennium, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Alhambra continue to outrun the ball?
Alhambra came out on top in a nail-biter against Millennium in their previous meeting back in April of 2015, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
