Heartland I recap November 19, 2013
Jersey Shore scaled the state rankings by moving to 275 from 310 this week, the biggest jump in Heartland I. The Bulldogs were able to move up by topping Selinsgrove 20-16.
Jersey Shore and the Seals played the most contested game in the league this week, with Jersey Shore eventually emerging with a 20-16 victory. Jordan Tawney ran for 86 yards in the win.
Danville's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zack Kozick threw for 67 and 1 touchdown and Caleb Klein had 24 yards receiving. On the ground Sam Dressler contributed 154 yards. Evan Tanner helped Danville's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 21 yards.
The Ironmen's dynamic duo of Kozick and Klein proved tough for Loyalsock Township. to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tanner helped Danville's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 21 yards.
Dressler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Danville topped the Lancers.
Zachary Miller was a key player and the best on defense this week as Tom Gravish's team beat Selinsgrove. The 6-foot-0 junior nabbed 1 interception and grabbed 1 sacks.
Thanks to the talents of Logan English and Utoa Agae-naipo, the Bulldogs have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. English is tops in the league in passing with 1,221 yards, while Agae-naipo has rushed for 1,338 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Jim Keiser's team's Tanner, with 500 yards on 29 catches.
Jersey Shore made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,389 from 7,065. The improvement was the result of a 20-16 victory over Dave Hess' team last week.
