The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to South Aiken 42-36. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Aiken of the 46-39 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Several Fighting Green Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Azaria Sapp, who scored nine points along with four blocks and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Norriyah Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
South Aiken's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sumara Williams, who scored ten points. Zanayia Harrison was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Aiken's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for South Aiken, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Aiken will head out on the road to take on Airport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Airport will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. South Aiken will take on North Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Augusta will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
