Sadly, the Apprentice Academy Red Wolves are still looking for their first win of the season after 12 contests. They took a serious blow against Sugar Creek on Thursday, falling 89-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Apprentice Academy in their matchups with Sugar Creek: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Apprentice Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Radear Watson. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 66.7% of Apprentice Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Eddington, who scored six points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sugar Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aidan Gatewood, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Elijah McCrey, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Apprentice Academy dropped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Sugar Creek, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
Apprentice Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Piedmont Community Charter at 5:00 p.m. on February 16th. As for Sugar Creek, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Garinger at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Sugar Creek is facing Garinger at the right time seeing as Garinger is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
