West Jefferson is 1-9 against West Liberty-Salem since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The West Jefferson Roughriders will look to defend their home court against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers at 7:30 p.m. West Jefferson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
West Jefferson fought the good fight in their overtime game against Fairbanks on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the Panthers. West Jefferson has not had much luck with Fairbanks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, West Liberty-Salem didn't have too much trouble with Southeastern Local at home on Saturday as they won 56-38.
West Liberty-Salem's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chaley Wade led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bailey Poppe, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and six assists.
West Jefferson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for West Liberty-Salem, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
West Jefferson was dealt a bruising 60-20 defeat at the hands of West Liberty-Salem in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Jefferson was down 36-13.
