Basketball Recap: Tampa Catholic Comes Up Short

Tampa Catholic won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They took a blow against the IMG Academy Ascenders, falling 80-40. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Ascenders recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Tampa Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Campbell-Finch, who posted eight points. Campbell-Finch is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Colby Cannizzaro, who earned eight points.

Tampa Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for IMG Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Tampa Catholic and IMG Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Tampa Catholic (ranked 43rd) will meet Bartow (ranked 133rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tampa Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 74.4 points per game this season. Meanwhile, IMG Academy (ranked 143rd) will meet Sports Leadership & Management (ranked 298th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
