Salida is 2-8 against Lamar since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Salida Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Lamar Thunder at 2:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Salida is ranked 156th, while Lamar is ranked 169th).
Salida unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Thursday. They took a 34-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banning Lewis Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Madelyn Johnson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. Graysa Kindle was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Lamar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 43-35 victory over Woodland Park.
Salida's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lamar, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Salida ended up a good deal behind Lamar in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 37-22. Thankfully for Salida, Abby Robbins (who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
