On Friday, The Alta Hawks faced the Roy Royals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Alta secured a 13-9 W over Roy. The victory was familiar territory for Alta who now have six in a row.
Anthony Cottis had a dynamite game for Alta, rushing for 186 yards while picking up 11.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 34 receiving yards. Cottis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Alta's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Skyline and 2-9 Cedar Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.3% over those games). As for Roy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Alta will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Bountiful at 2:30 p.m. on November 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Bountiful is ranked 16th, while Alta is ranked 11th). Roy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
