Somerset is 0-5 against Boerne since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Somerset Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Boerne Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Somerset was fully in charge, breezing past San Antonio Memorial 62-7 on the road. Given Somerset's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while San Antonio Memorial is ranked 990th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Boerne had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They didn't even let John F. Kennedy onto the board and left with a 63-0 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Boerne had established a 49 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boerne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooks Perez, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ivan Perez was in the mix as well, providing Boerne with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Somerset to 5-3 and Boerne to 7-1.
Somerset might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Boerne in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Somerset, Braden Baize (who picked up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
